O-ring, is a mechanical seal in the shape of a torus; it is an elastomeric ring with a round cross-section, designed to sit in a groove and be compressed during assembly between two or more parts.
The O-ring can be used in static or dynamic applications where there is
movement between parts and O-ring.
O-rings are one of the most common seals used because they are affordable, exceptionaly reliable and easy to install. The maximum recommended O-ring operating pressure depends on hardness and type of elastomer.
